Taiwan, Day 6: X-Men: First Class

I woke up about the same time that I always wake up at home; about 5:30AM. For breakfast we had mangos and guava. I don't really care too much for guava, but I ate the mango. I got to scrape the flesh off the seed... mangos have *one* big seed. That is very weird.

We hung around the house and spent time with Tammy's grandmother till about 12:00PM. We had plans to go see X-Men: First Class with June and two of her friends. First we went to the Breeze Center and ate at the food court. These malls are absolutely gorgeous. The food court was beautiful, spotless, and modern. There were plasma TVs on the walls and marble floors... these malls are cared for by the people who patronize them. Anyway.

I had something with noodles and meat. Tammy said it was like a Chinese spaghetti. She had something that wasn't very memorable. The dessert was good though (see below). We got sweet and salty popcorn for the movie (pretty good). This was pretty surprising... movie theaters have assigned seats like music concerts. Pretty crazy.

We took a taxi to the mall and we took the bus back home. The bus is pretty nice. It's similar to the busses in Nashville, but that's as similar as the public transportation gets. The taxis are awesome and obviously the MRT is stellar.

So we got back home and chilled out for a while till dinner. Now it happened earlier in the week that somehow clubs had come up in conversation and Daphne asked us if we wanted to go with her and her friend from out of town to a club. We didn't commit or anything, we kind of just let it go unanswered. The day rolled around and at dinner Daphne walks into Tammy's grandmothers house with her friend, Kelly. Kelly is an Asian American (Asian child born in America) and she went to school at NYU (New York University). Immediately I could tell I didn't like this person. She was bossy, pushy, loud, annoying, in your face, and just the polar opposite of me. Nothing was as good as New York to her... that kind of person. I think everyone has met a person like that. Something is brought up, "oh yeah we have that in New York, the one here must be a copy and can't be as good." Daphne asked what time we got up and we told her 5:30AM and her friend was like, "Oh it's ok, we're not going out till 12:00AM. You can take a nap."

June told them she was too tired as well and didn't want to go with them... Instead we all waited for them to leave and Tammy, myself, June, and Tammy's aunt went to Jingmei night market (obviously June wasn't *too* tired). From what I was told this night market was pretty tame, but there are better ones and we'll be going to those at a later date. I want to have more meat on a stick!

Look at this advertisement... it takes up the whole side of a building. Taipei reminds me so much of Manhatten.

The houses in the district of Xindian and Qizhang have walls built around them. I'll take a picture to better show what I'm talking about... but this one has FRICKIN' GLASS SHARDS ON TOP SO THAT IF YOU BREAK IN YOU DIE! Intense.

Stinky Tofu.

Haha. Hahaha.

Just a cake with red bean baked into it. I've had better.

Grilled squid. This sucker was DOSED in XO sauce and cayenne pepper. I could barely taste the squid itself. Good, but I felt like it had too much seasoning.

Another XO sauce/cayenne pepper avalanche. Good, but we didn't finish it because it didn't taste like corn.

Tammy wants a Helly Kitty motorcycle helmet for when I get my motorcycle.

Devon would love it here. There are TONS of the hand grabber machines and rows and rows of other game too.
