Taiwan, Day 1.

So after we were picked up by Tammy's aunt in a chauffeured limousine we went to Xindian which is where her family lives. I didn't get pictures of the place, but I will. It's pretty awesome. We are staying with her grandmother on the 6th floor and we tried to get some sleep (didn't get much) and we were up at 5:30 to walk to get breakfast with Tammy's grandmother.

So these are not in very good chronological order. This is when jetlag started to kick in towards the end of our first day. We had just gotten off the MRT at Xindian and were on our way back to Tammy's grandmother's. This station normally has two entrances, but one was shut down for maintenance. Apparently people were outraged about *having* to use the other one, so there are these guys at the entrance giving everyone $4NT to compensate everyone for the extra 50m they had to walk. Sounds like something lazy Americans would do.

Foggy or smoggy? Who knows.

This is Chiang Kai-shek (inside the memorial).

Outside the memorial.

There were these two buildings to either side of the memorial. I liked this one. (National Concert Hall)

Tammy liked this one. Which one do *you* like? (National Theater)

Another shot of the concert hall.

This was our first homemade meal at Tammy's grandmother's house. Pretty darn good. We went to the store that day and for the most part everything was fresh. The bottom left is Zhong zi, the bottom right is chicken and mushrooms (so good), the middle is shredded pork and tofu (so good), next to that is broccoli, and the soup was radish soup with rib meat.

Do you want the cuttlefish and asparagus or the vanilla paste? OK! I eat the cuttlefish and asparagus!

Entrance arc for Liberty Square.

DAMN IT! No Dr. Pepper!?!??!

Why can't we have these awesome flavors in the States?

This was part of our breakfast the first morning. It's basically fried dough with sesame seeds on the outside wrapped around more fried dough.
